Emergency Care

OOH care provided by Glasgow University

If your pet is in need of emergency care outside of the normal opening hours of Boyce and Houston and you telephone us, the recorded message will give you instructions of how to contact University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital.

Just as you would attend the A&E department in an OOH emergency, your pet can now do the same.

The staff at Glasgow University specialise in emergency and critical care medicine and receive regular training to ensure they remain up-to-date with the latest advances. The University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital staff will also give you free advice over the phone if it seems not to be necessary to attend the OOH clinic.

The staff will direct you to the clinic if you do need to visit. The University Hospital is equipped to a high standard and permanently staffed by qualified and dedicated professionals and offers a full spectrum of emergency veterinary services.

If you need help with an emergency when Boyce and Houston is closed, do not hesitate to call the University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital on 0141 330 7690.

Please note that this high-quality service can be very expensive and it is a good idea to have your pet fully insured or at least have accidental insurance cover.

As we don't have staff in our premises overnight, we may need to arrange overnight care for your pet at the University of Glasgow Small Animal Hospital. Please note that it is the owner's responsibility to transport your pet from our practice to the small animal hospital. We are happy to help arrange a taxi or animal ambulance if required.
